BONER is a film photography art book by Jayden Tan exploring the awkward, tender, and wild terrain between boyhood imagination and coming of age through visual interpretations of one of adolescence’s most universal rites of passage.

A creative departure from Jayden’s commercial practice, this book presents a curated body of narrative film photographs taken between 2023 and early 2026 with 13 friends and collaborators, and interwoven with personal essays and reflections on the topic of “boner”.

At the heart of this 136-page monograph lies a bulging surprise waiting for the unsuspecting page-turner: A sculptural paper pop-up, individually assembled and tucked between the film photographs. It transforms the stories within the photographs into an imaginative illustrated world, beautifully brought to life by Thai illustrator, Ranuth Tong.
